Enabling Quirepad
iPhone and iPad
- Open the Settings app.
- Go to Apps > Safari > Extensions (on some versions, Settings > Safari > Extensions).
- Turn on Quirepad.
- In Safari, open the extensions menu and choose Allow on Every Website.
Mac
- Open Safari > Settings > Extensions.
- Turn on Quirepad.
- Allow it on every website.
How it works
Quirepad has two modes: paused and armed. While it is armed, any text you select is added to a floating pad on the page.
- Start collecting. On a Mac, press Option + C or click the Quirepad toolbar icon. On iPhone or iPad, tap the small + that appears below a selection while paused, or tap the Quirepad icon.
- Select text to collect it. Keep selecting on the page to add more snippets. They stack up in the pad.
- Copy everything. Press Copy All in the pad, then paste wherever you like.
Settings such as Keep formatting and Include sources live in the gear inside the floating pad.
Frequently asked questions
The pad does not appear on a page
Reload the page, then make sure Quirepad is allowed on that site: open the extensions menu in Safari, choose Quirepad, and pick Allow. Safari only injects the extension after it has permission for that website.
Nothing gets captured when I select text
Quirepad is probably paused. Arm it with the toolbar icon, the + chip that appears under a selection on iPhone and iPad, or Option + C on a Mac. The badge on the icon shows the current mode.
How do I pause it?
Use the same toggle you used to start: the Quirepad icon, or Option + C on a Mac. You can also tap the X on the pad. Your collected snippets stay where they are.
Does it work in every app or site?
Quirepad works on web pages in Safari where you have granted it access. It cannot read text in other apps.
Is my data private?
Yes. Everything stays on your device. Quirepad makes no network requests and collects no data.
Can I paste with formatting?
Turn on Keep formatting in the pad's gear to paste rich text. Otherwise Quirepad pastes clean plain text that still preserves paragraph and list structure.
